Ruggedized
The most common connectors used in ruggedized
applications are Waterproof, D-subs, Rectangular and Inline. Waterproof D-sub,
USB and HDMI connectors with an IP67 rating are used in harsh environments
interconnecting all kinds of equipment including lighting, security cameras,
traffic controls, etc. D-subs will provide data feeds back to the control panel.
Rectangular rack & panel connectors are used in ruggedized environments
providing protection from shock and vibration to ensure high continuity signals
for reliable data transfer. Inline waterproof connectors are used anywhere
there is possible exposure to fluids. They are used on wire harnesses
interconnecting equipment or boards in wet environments. Inline non waterproof connectors are used for
wire to board connections where fluid exposure is not a factor. A secure
latching mechanism insures a solid connection in ruggedized equipment when high
shock and vibration is an issue.
